 WTF NADER?!?!!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080224/ap_on_el_pr/nader

I know the guy has the right to run...I'm not denying that. But for Christ's sake does he HAVE to go into every election where what we need more than ever is solidarity among dems to get the republicans out of office?! This is what he did with Gore and Kerry---siphoned off much needed votes for the democrats and we lost our shots at getting into office.

YOU KNOW YOU DON'T HAVE A CHANCE IN HELL SO WHY ARE YOU FUCKING THINGS UP FOR US LIKE THIS?!?!?!!?!?!?!

Since working the phonebank triggers a full-blown anxiety attack...

I'm inviting anyone interested (in Cbus) to a honk-n-wave in Gahanna this weekend for the Obama campaign. I'll even throw in lunch at my place! E-mail me or call if interested.

 FYI, darling flist...

I have 3 tickets to "Spamalot" that I'm trying to help unload (Maria and Alexi aren't coming to town afterall). 2 are center loge (not front row, but pretty close) and one is in Mezzanine. Each ticket is $71.50 and the show is Saturday, November 17th at 2pm.

Who wants 'em?

no hamburger for me, thanks...

handbasket
Last Tuesday, Mom asked me to run to the grocery store and get supplies for sloppy joe (potluck at work). I obliged and picked up 2-1.5 pound containers and 2 of the 1 pound tubes. Got home, put everything away, and found out I was short one of the 1 pound tubes. It was evening by then and I assumed it was left at the grocery store and had long since been put back on the shelf.

Ah, but we all know what happens to those who "assume".

I went out to my car last night, Saturday, to go to Starbase for a bit to watch the HP movies, opened the car door, and was assulted by flies and the most horrific stench of my life.

Yes, I found the 1 pound of hamburger. In my trunk. Which had been there for 5 days.

I have used half a bottle of Fabreeze on the car already and one of those odor-absorbing things for cars. All the windows are down, but *shudders*. I'm getting nauseated again just thinking about it. I cannot drive to the first day of my new job smelling like spoiled meat, so I'll have to drive mom to work at 6:30am then pick her up at night. Ugh.

Any other suggestions to getting rid of a rancid, spoling meat smell in your car?

I'm worried about tomorrow.

After watching my mom struggle to get up and down the stairs at the apartment I don't think she'll be able to help move the furniture like we had originally planned. Hopefully, I'll be able to carry the bulk of the weight myself, but it'll be tricky. It's odd, but in this moment I realize that my mom is actually getting old. Just keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow...

No better way to ring in the new year with one bitchy round of the flu.

At least that's what they tell me.

I'm somewhat back to normal (besides the sneezing, stuffy nose, and the occasional flame escaping from my mouth) having been knocked on my ass for the last two days. It didn't help yesterday that I had to call NOC (Network Operations Center) to find out why I hadn't recieved any print files by 5am only to find out they were going to be 6 hours late. Why? Didn't I get the memo? *headdesk* Upon which time I called my boss and told her I the situation and how craptastic I felt and I needed to go home...to which she was very understanding and told me to get the hell home. Things went a bit more smoothly today, but I'll have to go in early on Monday to make up boxes and restock all the printers. At least I have a weekend FREE. It's been forever since I've had that and all I plan on doing is resting up and watching season one of the new "Doctor Who" that arrived in the mail today. *squee*

Oh, and probably should take down the Christmas decorations. And clean up the dishes and the dirty kleenex all over the apartment.

Drat.

Oh, and just to prove once and for all how bitchy karma can be, consider this: I spent my $500 gift card on things like new tennis shoes, jeans, shirts (for work), and tolietries. Not really anything extravagant. The one big ticket thing I allowed myself to get was seasons one and two of "Doctor Who". The night I bought the DVDs, the remote to my DVD player dies and I can't operate the player without it. Ack.

No word from Maria besides to say that they were at the airport in Bagdad waiting for their flight to Kuwait. Their original flight was pushed back twice then cancelled so who knows when for sure they're flying out. I'm still taking the 11th and 12th off next week because they should both definately be here by then. Then there's the Harry Huddle at my place on the 13th that I still need to get supplies for. :) Anyone up for Trivial Pursuit Totally 80's edition? I got it from Dad and Susie for Christmas.

Going to go have some more Tylenol cold and curl up on the couch for a bit. Have a good one, y'all.

Hey.

Made it back from Texas without any snafus, so that's a plus. I'm utterly exhausted right now, but I have to do laundry so I'll have clothes for work tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that the corn maze didn't work out (all you hp-ohio types). Hopefully, now with the worst of my family issues over for the time being I'll be able to get back to normal and start obsessing over all things HP again.

I'll see if I can get in here the next few days and post some stories and pictures. I'm busy playing catch up with work and church things the next week.

Give me a call or post something if there's something I need to catch up on!

you are here
Hey y'all. Just wanted to let everyone know we made it to Texas (finally). Apparently, God tried to smote Houston right as we were trying to get there so I have quite an adventure to tell when I get back (complete with photos). Just a lot of hanging around Kileen right now, but we're going to San Antonio on Friday and Dallas on Saturday.

A few notes about Texas:

1.) I'm wearing shorts and a t-shirt right now, all you Ohio types. So ha.

2.) Dali designed the freeways here. Way to have roads in the sky to freak me out.

3.) What the hell is a Whataburger?

4.) I saw cacti. It made me happy.

Mom is doing okay right now. I think keeping busy is the key.

I'll see everyone when I get back. :)

Well, it's official...

As of Monday, October 1st I will be off the temp agency payroll and on at the office I've been working at for the last 90 days. I filled out the paperwork today so I now REALLY TRUELY have a full-time, permenent job. *runs frantically around the room in joy*

kimdone.

Work was still rather craptastic today, though, as Tracy was out sick AGAIN and I had to do a rather large statement sort by myself. I also ended up missing a day in there, but my boss (who said the night supervisor should've done it anyways) missed it too and said no harm no foul. The night supervisor seemed a little snooty towards me when explaining how and seemed put off when I said I couldn't stay to run the sort on what was left because A.) I ran the statement sort from 11am until 2:30, B.) I didn't know they changed the the system so the checks went to someplace else, C.) I was also trying to do my job, Tracy's job, and his job that he apparently didn't feel the need to do last night. Okay, so I didnt' say the last part. I didn't get out of work again until nearly 4:45. Statements are out, so we should at least slow down for a bit...enough for me to beat rush hour traffic tomorrow.

Speaking of rush hour, Bush was in town today and totally fucked with rush hour traffic. How 'bout coming during lunch hour instead of holding up traffic on the over-congested freeway that's still under construction during rush hour, m'kay? My intention was to go straight home tonight and stay there, but since traffic was a mess I couldn't turn left to get to my apartment so I just took the easier right turn and went straight to Mom's. *headdesk*

Need to get to sleep ealier tonight. I was finishing The Lovely Bones last night and was so close to finishing that I couldn't stop until I finished the book. Any suggestions for my next read? Any genre...surprise me. ;)

Am so absolutely thrilled about having a real job now. :) Going to revel in that for awhile and go drum up some more PR for the Crystal Ball...

You're Colombia!

You do a lot of drugs, and these have kind of distorted your view of
reality, to the point that everyone looks like an enemy.  You keep trying to restore
order over your schizophrenic world view, but you don't even know which goal is your own
and which is someone else's.  You're pretty sure someone needs to be punished for all
this, but who that is changes all the time.  Things would be a lot better for you if
you switched to coffee, or even to decaf, but all this money would be hard to give up.

Because I don't feel like a real entry (and in all honesty, I don't have one...because I have a very sad, boring life).

What do you believe to be the quintessential...

Summer reading:
Summer Movie:
Summer Song:
Summer afternoon:
Summer vacation destination:

This is more for my ideas than anything else. I so want a vacation this year and Virginia Beach is looking to be as far as I can afford. :P

A meme where I, the poster, do all the work...just follow the

* I'll respond with something random I like about you.

* I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.

* I'll name something we should do together.

* I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me (or just me).

* I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.

* I'll leave you a quote that is somehow appropriate to you.

* I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you.

* If I do this for you, you must post this on your journal so you can do the same for other people.

the Wit

(52% dark, 30% spontaneous, 36% vulgar)

your humor style:
CLEAN | COMPLEX | DARK

You like things edgy, subtle, and smart. I guess that means you're probably an intellectual, but don't take that to mean pretentious. You realize 'dumb' can be witty--after all isn't that the Simpsons' philosophy?--but rudeness for its own sake, 'gross-out' humor and most other things found in a fraternity leave you totally flat.

I guess you just have a more cerebral approach than most. You have the perfect mindset for a joke writer or staff writer.

Your sense of humor takes the most thought to appreciate, but it's also the best, in my opinion.

You probably loved the Office. If you don't know what I'm talking about, check it out here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/theoffice/.

Although a few of my friends already know, I thought I'd inform the rest of you...

5 die in plane crash...

Sometime on April 20th a small plane went down between West Lafyette and Bloomington, Indiana. On board were 5 music students from IU...two of whom I went to school with at BGSU. While I wasn't really familiar with Chris I knew Robert a little more because he was in the bassoon studio when I first started at BG. Both of them were insanely talented. Even though I wasn't "friends" really with either one, it's still a bit of a shock. Even in a moderate sized university, you get to know people in your program over time. I won't be so corny as to say we're all family in the CMA (College of Musical Arts), but...well...it's hard to put into words.

I'm not sure if I'll head up to BGSU for the memorial service on Sunday. It's been over a year since I've set foot on campus--not since the Teacher Job Fair in 2005. We shall see...

and now for something completely different...

Because I don't feel like doing a real update, go check out this: Chrissi Poland

She's my mom's cousin (my grandfather's brother's daughter...so I don't know what level of cousin that makes her to me). In actuality I've only met her once or twice in in my life, but she's pretty cool. Anywho, I'd never really listened to her music before and I just happened across her website while browsing for family stuff. So I thought I'd share. :)

Enjoy!
